Residents are trained in the full-scope of family medicine including behavioral health, chronic care, OB/GYN, office-based procedures, and pediatrics. Read More » Unique Opportunities Our Residents Residents have the opportunity to practice primary care in an ambulatory environment that offers exposure to a variety of management styles, patient mixes, office procedures, and patient flow. Family Health Center The center serves families of the poor and disenfranchised who rely on us for personalized, comprehensive care; families of graduate students from nearby universities provide us with an international perspective; and our neighbors from the surrounding communities at the Family Health Center. Community Service Within the current health care climate, it is impossible to practice without devoting attention to the surrounding community. Through many affiliations with partner organizations, the UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Program readily fulfills its responsibility to the community . Osteopathic Residency The Osteopathic Residents are integrated into the UPMC Shadyside Allopathic Program, making them dually-accredited in one of the most well-established and highly respected Family Medicine Residencies in Western Pennsylvania. Osteopathic physicians share in the same curriculum and educational experiences as the Allopathic physicians throughout the residency. Medical Student Opportunities Internships enable medical students to explore the family medicine approach to medicine, and learn more about our residency program. Clerkships emphasize the development of ambulatory care skills in a Family Medicine setting.
